Charlotte Istel is a writer, director and producer working across fiction and non-fiction film, television and podcasts. She has worked as a Research Producer, Story and Field Producer, Segment Producer, and Development Producer on projects for major streamers, and has experience in writers’ rooms as an assistant.

Charlotte has written and directed several award-winning short films. Her most recent film THE PLUMBING premiered at the Oscar-qualifying Provincetown International Film Festival in 2025. Her previous film HOLY WEEK received an Honorable Mention for Best Screenplay at the Queens World Film Festival. Her pilot script of the same name was a semifinalist for Sundance’s YouTube New Voices Lab. Her short film MICKY won the Audience Choice Award at Indie Works Film Festival and screened at the Boston LGBT Film Festival and Los Angeles Independent Film Festival.

Charlotte was raised in Brooklyn but you can also find her in Los Angeles depending on her mood. She is an avid sports fan and food enthusiast.
